Happy World Ocean Day!

This year is the biggest celebration of the Worlds Ocean yet! So far over one thousand events have been created worldwide and registered on the World Ocean Day website. Ranging from Run to the Deep in London and International Ocean week in Cameroon.

World Ocean Day has been developed by the Youth Advisory Council, who have also developed a Plastic Pollution Less Plan to help educate young people and communities about plastic pollution and its effects on our oceans and wildlife.

Working with the UN Environment, the conservation action focus aligns with World Environment Day which was held on June 5th, which theme was BEAT PLASTIC. Thus creating a week focused solely on Plastic Pollution.

Alongside Wold Environment Day and World Ocean Day, areas of the British coastline nearly eight-times bigger than Greater London will become safeguarded under Government plans to expand the “Blue Belt” of protected marine locations.
